Easter Spending Set to Break Records in 2026

Easter celebrations are gearing up for a record-breaking year, with total spending expected to reach an impressive $24.9 billion in 2026. Despite ongoing economic uncertainty, consumers are planning to shell out an all‑time high of about $195 per person, signaling a strong desire to embrace the holiday.

Tradition is taking center stage. Families are planning big meals, festive gatherings, and classic egg hunts, and they’re stocking up accordingly. Candy tops the shopping list, with 92% of consumers planning to buy sweets. Close behind are food (90%), gifts (64%), decorations (53%), and clothing (51%). Food alone is projected to drive $7.5 billion in spending.

When it comes to where people shop, discount stores remain the top destination, followed by department stores and online retailers. Many shoppers are turning their Easter prep into a social outing, and even those who don’t celebrate the holiday are still taking advantage of seasonal sales.
