Since there are no more pennies being produced, some people are wondering what to do with them. Of course, there are the hoarders who think holding on to all of them will be their one-way ticket to untold riches. Spoiler alert – it probably won’t work out that way. Money experts say the smart thing is to slowly, but surely, start getting rid of all that spare change that’s sitting in jars around your home. Today, just 14% of consumer payments are made with cash. That’s down from 31% in 2016. Since there’s not as much of a need for coins, many places after ditched those Coinstar machines, and a lot of stores go through coin shortages. Be kind to your future self…cash those coins in and make room for other crap that you eventually won’t need, either.
