While humans get to enjoy a fabulous spread of food for Thanksgiving, family pets should stick to their own food. Turkey Day is one of the top holidays for pet emergencies, so here are some expert tips to keep Fido and Fluffy safe:
- Avoid giving them: any foods that are rich, fatty, or seasoned; especially turkey skin, gravy, stuffing, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, chocolate, xylitol-sweetened desserts, and alcohol
- Turkey or meat bones should be kept away from your pet
- Desserts should be avoided
- Pets may eat decorations
- If your pet has anxiety, keep them in a stress-free and comfy room with distractions
- If your dog or cat has vomiting, lethargy, bloating, or restlessness take them to the emergency vet ASAP
