Three-Quarters Of Americans Say Feeling Good Beats Looking Good

For some people, looking good will always be their biggest goal, but new research suggests that feeling good on the inside is becoming more important to a lot of us. According to a new survey, 77% of people now prioritize what feels good over what makes them look good.

The poll of 2-thousand adults looks at which health approaches and habits really make a difference and finds:

  • Nearly a third (30%) have adopted a more mindful health approach this year, as a result of being more aware of bodily cues, mental processes and emotional responses.
  • More than a quarter say they’ve started taking their inner health seriously in the last year.
  • People do an average of five “feel-good” habits every day to build long-term wellness both inside and out.
  • Overall, 86% believe their emotional and physical health are deeply connected and 77% believe their gut health directly affects how they feel emotionally.
  • Now some want to give up habits they know make them feel worse in the long run, like mindless snacking while watching TV (28%), staying up late for no reason (27%) and eating ultra-processed foods (26%).
  • To help feel like their best selves, nearly half (45%) like to take a nap, while others listen to music (30%), go for a walk (29%) or just take a minute to themselves (24%).

  4. Saying no to things that drain them (38%)

  6. Spending time in nature (35%)
  7. Taking breaks from screens and social media (32%)
  8. Taking a daily probiotic or supplement (31%)
  9. Prioritizing gut health (28%)
  10. Practicing mindfulness with meditation, breathwork (22%)
