Aaron Sorkin is developing “The Social Network Part II” at Sony Pictures, based on “The Facebook Files” from “The Wall Street Journal,” which dove into the controversial inner workings of the social media company. Sorkin, who wrote and won an Oscar for the original 2010 film, will direct the sequel. Casting, meanwhile, has not yet been announced. The first film was directed by David Fincher and starred Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg. Sorkin has long hinted that he was working on a follow-up, saying in 2021 that “what has been going on with Facebook these last few years is a story very much worth telling.”
