Summer is the time to travel for millions of Americans, with research showing 82% planning to take a trip this season. Thanks to the economy and their bank account balances, a lot of folks have had to rethink those summer vacation plans, but their fun doesn’t have to be ruined just because they’re not going out of town. Some places are perfect for an enjoyable, budget-friendly staycation and a new report highlights where they are.

  • WalletHub has just come out with their picks for the Best (and Worst) Cities for Staycations.
  • They ranked 182 U.S. cities on 41 metrics, including everything from hiking trails, golf courses and swimming pools per capita, to restaurant costs and amusement parks and museums per capita.
  • Looking at all that, the best city for a staycation this summer is Cincinnati, Ohio.
  • It gets high scores for outdoor activities, thanks to the large number of parks, pools, and baseball fields there, as well as many affordable restaurants and beer gardens.
  • On the flip side, Yonkers, New York, is the worst city overall for a staycation, followed by Fremont, California, and Pearl City, Hawaii.
