Facebook hosts a hidden market where people trade “murderabilia”—items linked to serial killers and violent criminals. These include things like personal letters, artwork, or crime scene fragments. One seller, Nico Claux, a convicted murderer and cannibal, actively sells items and engages with collectors online himself.
For example, someone was recently selling John Wayne Gacy “murder site dirt” for $35. Some buyers form penpal relationships with inmates, creating a bizarre mix of fandom and commerce. The trend raises serious concerns about ethics, especially as some sellers make money from crimes that harmed others.
