40% Of Americans Think Texts Are “Naked” Without An Emoji

What’s your vibe when it comes to emojis? A new survey asked 2,000 Americans, 21-and-older, about their feelings on emojis. With today being World Emoji Day, it’s only fitting that we share some of the survey’s findings:

  • 41% of those who responded said a text message “needs to have an emoji to be complete” and “feels naked” without one
  • 70% of the Gen Z crowd felt more passionate about the need for emojis
  • As for messages that solely consist of emojis, 32% said that’s not something you should do because it’s “a conversation killer”
  • 38% said they would love to “invent a new emoji,” with some suggestions being “a witch,” “a skull with heart eyes,” and “an upside down emoji with a cowboy hat”
  • 58% prefer happy emojis, while 15% like to go “sweeter” with “hearts or kisses”
  • Only 5% of respondents said they never use emojis in everyday texting conversation
