Dunkin’ has just rolled out its summer menu that includes three new donut-inspired coffee flavors described as “ a drinkable twist on donuts” according to a company press release. The new drinks are Blueberry Donut Iced Coffee and hot or iced Vanilla Frosted Donut Signature Latte and they all come with Dunkin’s new Donut Swirl, a Swirl-style flavoring with notes of vanilla frosting and pastry.
There are also two new items to celebrate National Donut Day on June 7 – Kiwi Watermelon Dunkin’ Refresher (available with green tea or lemonade) and a Watermelon Burst Donut filled with watermelon-flavored jelly. These items will only be available for a limited time.
Early reviews of the new donut-inspired coffees are a little mixed with TikTok foodie @nicoleaxelrad saying she got a slight hint of donut and her final take was “I mean, obviously it still tastes like coffee, but it’s like if they put the two together, just smashed it together.” TikToker @leximariahmusic was more skeptical after trying the Blueberry Donut Iced Coffee. She said “I kind of wish for my first time trying it, I didn’t get the blueberry in it because I can’t really figure out what exactly the Donut Swirl tastes like. It’s good but I don’t really get what’s ‘donut’ about it.”
A final review from The Endorsement on YouTube said “I don’t know how we’re gonna get ‘donut’ from the Vanilla Frosted Signature Iced Latte. I think it’s just a ploy to get a new product out for the summer, just my opinion” and said the most ‘donut’ thing about the drink is the rainbow sprinkles on top.
